Joining Swallow Risers

Open Day:
Come and see Swallow Risers in action, chat with staff members, let your children explore the toys and the lovely garden. Every year Swallows aim to hold an open day to allow you and your children a taster of what we have to offer. Please contact us for details or to arrange a visit.

First Visits:
Swallow Risers Preschool takes children from two years of age; your child can start at any time of the year, provided we have vacancies.

Our Breakfast and After School Clubs take children from the age of 5 to 11 years, children can start at any time of the year, provided we have vacancies.

If you are interested in your child attending Swallow Risers, the best way to make your decision is to call in, meet the staff and see us in action. To make an appointment, call Manager, Manjit Bining on 01634 671450.

Settling-in:
When a child begins at Swallow Risers we explain the process of settling-in with his/her parents/carers and jointly decide on the best way to help the child to settle.

We offer the parent/carers the opportunity to stay for most of the session during the first week, gradually taking time away from their child, increasing this as and when the child is able to cope.

We judge a child to be settled when they have formed a relationship with a member of staff; for example the child looks for a member of staff when he/she arrives, goes to them for comfort, and seems pleased to be with them. The child is also familiar with where things are and is pleased to see other children and participate in activities.

We use the settling-in period to begin to assess who will be the best key person for the child and their family. We allocate a key person team to each child and their family.

Key person:
As stated above, each child and his/her family is allocated a key person. This member of staff will be your first point of contact if you wish to discuss your child’s progress or if you need to make the staff aware of an issue that may affect your child.

As Swallows is a small and community-based preschool each parent is welcome to approach any member of staff, and should not feel limited to the key person.

We operates an “open door” policy to parents, who can discuss their child’s development at any time.

Special Educational Needs:
Swallows provide equal opportunity of learning for all children, including those with special educational needs. Our staff is experienced in working with children with a range of physical and learning disabilities. If you wish to discuss your child’s own particular needs, please make an appointment with our Special Educational Need Co-ordinator.

We have wheelchair access to the Setting.

If you wish to register you child at our Setting, you can do so by telephoning the setting on 01634 671450, emailing swallowrisers@sherriebabington.co.uk, using the contact us page of this website or download the attached application form.
